Pet of the Month: Whiskey’s Story

“Animals are such agreeable friends- they ask no questions, they pass no criticism”– George Eliot.

Whiskey is a beautiful 10 year old Lhaso Apso mix who is a frequent boarder here at North Town Veterinary Hospital. Three years ago Whiskey slipped and fell down half a flight of stairs and ruptured his vertebra, also causing a prolapsed disk on his right side. Although he underwent surgery Whiskey lost his deep pain perception and reflexes indefinitely. Whiskeys injury was so extensive that it left him paralyzed in both hind legs. In 2013 Whiskeys owner got him a specialized wheel chair to help with his everyday life and mobility. Now he is able to move around freely and remains just as friendly and affectionate as ever. The accident has not managed to slow him down one bit. While Whiskey is boarding with us at North Town you can find him enjoying ear scratches and walks the staff love to provide for him. Whiskey is a pleasure to have around as he is always in great spirits, managing to light up each and every room he enters.  Whisky really is a prime example of overcoming hard times.

No matter what your pets needs are North Town Veterinary Hospital goes above and beyond to accommodate these. North Town welcomes all boarders including those with special needs, although we do require that our patients be current with all vaccinations.  Our team is here to ensure that your pets are safe, comfortable and well taken care of during their stay with us.
